Purpose and Goals


Beaufort County School District’s Virtual Franchise (BCSD-V Franchise) is a franchise of the South Carolina Virtual School. The BCSD-V Franchise will allow an alternative path for high school students to earn high school credits by taking courses online. Participating in online courses also provides students with valuable skills including collaborating online and accessing digital information which helps them become college and career ready.


  • Provide an opportunity for high school students to take virtual courses to earn high school credit

  • Provide virtual education to students on medical homebound including access to digital curriculum, content teachers, and ongoing individual academic support

  • Increase graduation and decrease dropout rate by providing an alternative setting for students to successfully earn course credit

  • Attract Beaufort County students not currently enrolled in a district public school (i.e. homeschool, private school, charter schools)

  • Allow students to take courses not offered at their school based on interest, ability, and college/career path

  • Provide opportunities for students to take accelerated courses and graduate early
