  • This program is offered through EyeMed Vision Care®.
  • Medical care of your eyes will continue to be covered by your health plan.
  • Comprehensive exam once a year, $10 copay with an in-network provider.
  • Frames once every year, in-network $150 allowance.
  • Contacts in-network $130 allowance.
  • Available as an option to elect the vision plan during the Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA) Insurance October Open Enrollments for employees who qualify for benefits.
  • EyeMed also has an app that provides the same access as EyeMed's member website, available for iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch and Android devices.

Online Vision Benefits Information

Register and log into EyeMed's website, for:
-The Find a Provider feature;
-The View Your Benefits feature, including which family members are covered and when everyone will be eligible for particular services;
-Access to claims status updates;
-A printable ID card and out-of-network claim form;
-Explanations of Benefits (EOB);
-Ordering contact lenses through; and
-The Vision Wellness section, where you can learn more about eye exams, eye diseases and selecting eyewear.

The State of South Carolina vision program provides vision coverage through the State of South Carolina Access Network, which includes private practice providers, as well as leading optical retailers, such as, Target Optical, LensCrafters®, Sears OpticalSM,  JCPenney Optical® and participating Pearle Vision® locations.

Vision Care Discount Program

For those who choose to not enroll with the EyeMed plan, the vision care discount program provides another option.   Any individual who is eligible for benefits from PEBA may use the discounts.  You may need to provide employment-related identification to prove you are eligible. 

Some of the discounts are, $60 for a routine comprehensive eye exam and providers may agree to a 20% discount on all eyewear except for disposable contact lenses.  Not all providers participate in the Vision Care Discount Program.  A member may not use the discount program and the EyeMed plan at the same time.  Refer to the PEBA Insurance Benefits Guide online at for more information about the vision plans.
