Class of 2020 graduation celebrations,
movie premieres to begin on Monday

BEAUFORT – Drive-through celebrations and movie premieres celebrating the graduating Class of 2020 will take place next week across the Beaufort County School District.

“We believe these movies and drive-through celebrations will be something our graduates can look back on and remember for years to come,” said Superintendent Frank Rodriguez.

Drive-through celebrations for Class of 2020 graduates, their families and friends will begin Monday, June 1, and continue through Saturday, June 6.  Vehicles of students and family members may be decorated for these celebrations, which will be hosted by socially distanced school staff and local elected officials:

  • Battery Creek High (Monday, June 1, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.)

  • Beaufort High (Tuesday, June 2, 10 a.m. – noon)

  • May River High (Wednesday, June 3, 10 a.m. – noon)

  • Whale Branch Early College High (Thursday, June 4, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.)

  • Hilton Head Island High (Friday, June 5, 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.)

  • Bluffton High (Saturday, June 6, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.)

Earlier this month, Class of 2020 graduates were videotaped walking across high school stages, and seniors’ commencement speeches were also recorded.  High schools’ graduation movies, which will be permanently archived on district social media, will premiere “live” on the district’s YouTube channel and Facebook page at the times below:

  • Monday, June 1 at 7 p.m. – Battery Creek High

  • Tuesday, June 2 at 7 p.m. – Beaufort High

  • Wednesday, June 3 at 7 p.m. – May River High

  • Thursday, June 4 at 7 p.m. – Whale Branch Early College High

  • Friday, June 5 at 7 p.m. – Hilton Head Island High

  • Saturday, June 6 at 10 a.m. – Bluffton High

Full-page advertisements celebrating all six high school graduating classes will be published in June 7 editions of the Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette.
