Take a book, leave a book

Little Free Library, Bluffton Elementary School

Bluffton Elementary is the first South Carolina public school with a Little Free Library, an international network of free book exchanges aimed at promoting literacy in smaller communities.  These “libraries” have no fines or hours of operation, and users are encouraged to write notes in the books, return them when they want and make their own donations.  The libraries are built out of everything from discarded dollhouses to telephone booths, microwave ovens and even canoes.  Bluffton Elementary’s Little Free Library was built by local contractor Jeff Moody, a school volunteer, and so far it’s been a big hit with local kids.  Pictured with Moody are, from left, second-grader Stephanie Adame Nava and fourth-grader Memphis Daniels.
